It may make you feel good for the moment, but you are poisoning yourself.

Heroin can cause severe and immediate harmful effects on your body including overdosing and death.

Heroin tells you that it is more important than your family, friends and your life.

Heroin is addictive both mentally and physically. Addicts will stop at next to nothing to continue to get high including neglecting or betraying friends and family.

The high is a lie because if you do it, you will die.

The potential for death from heroin use is very real and could happen at anytime. Eight Santa Clarita residents between the age of 18 and 27 have died since 2010 alone. Your first hit can be your last hit.

In recent months, Santa Clarita has experienced a dramatic increase in heroin use, arrests and fatal overdoses. Many are unaware of the existence of heroin in Santa Clarita schools and among teenagers in our Valley.

Heroin SymposiumThe heroin symposium will include:

  • Information and tips for parents on how to protect their children.
  • Resources for prevention and recovery.
  • A panel of experts.

Speakers will include a recovering addict, a drug recovery counselor, parents of addicted Santa Clarita youth as well as representatives from law enforcement and health care.
