How do perfectly normal kids from good homes and loving families turn into heroin addicts? When your kid’s friends ask to use the bathroom, are they really going through your medicine cabinet? Are teens really having “pharm” parties, where they combine pharmaceutical medications into a communal bowl and take random drugs to get high? Find answers to these questions and more at the 2013 Heroin Kills Symposium. The Symposium will feature law enforcement and school representatives, addiction and recovery experts, parents, and an emergency room physician. For previous Heroin Kills Symposium videos go to YouTube.com/heroinkillsSCV.

New this year will be a demonstration by a narcotics deputy with paraphernalia seized from Santa Clarita homes, as well as a sobering look at how teens are using social media. The symposium is free and open to the public.
Where: The Activities Center and the Santa Clarita Sports Complex located at 20880 Centre Point Parkway.
