The Immature Teen Brain on Pot Symposium, August 26, 2015

The Immature Teen Brain on Pot Symposium, August 26, 2015

Every year, the City of Santa Clarita hosts a hard-hitting drug awareness program and resource fair for teens and parents. This year’s program, entitled “The Immature Teen Brain on Pot,” will begin at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, August 26, 2015, at the Santa Clarita Activities Center.

At the August 26 symposium, attendees will learn the truth and dangers of marijuana use, as the panel of speakers addresses the realities of teen marijuana use, including its immediate effects as well as the long-term effects on the brain and body.

The program’s panel of local professionals will include a law enforcement representative from the Sheriff’s Department, a drug recovery expert from Action Family Counseling, a family support resource from A Light of Hope, a physician from Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital and an education administrator from Hart School District.

Residents are encouraged to attend the program in order to learn all they can about drug use, signs of drug use, information about the immediate and long term impacts of marijuana use and what they can do as a parent, friend, partner or concerned resident.

The 2015 symposium is free and open to the public. For more information about “The Immature Teen Brain on Pot,” call (661) 250-3708.  The Santa Clarita Activities Center is located at 20880 Centre Pointe Parkway.
